I didn’t know how much I needed the Worry Monster’s Mindfulness moves until I illustrated the Worry Monster.

I’ve always operated with a sort of low grade level of anxiety. It comes and it goes… like the waves Worry Monster rides in the book. Over the years, I’ve tried forming a meditation practice. If I’m disciplined, it helps. But I fall asleep… every time. I love yoga, but I’m probably the person snoring in the back at the end of your yoga class.

In The Worry Monster, Dr. Cook-Cottone breaks down mindfulness practice into seven bite sized and actionable steps and wraps it in a sweet story perfect for little ones… and, as it turns out, me. I should have known that drawing cute little lovable monsters practicing mindfulness is exactly what my particular mindfulness practice needed.

All that to say that I can’t recommend Worry Monster enough for any littles struggling with big feelings AND if you have the book and are looking for some interactive activities to help practice further, you can download the Mindful Monster Moves Worksheets here. These free activity sheets are a great companion to the book, offering a variety of calming and creative exercises to help kids learn how mindfulness can calm anxiety.

Happy mindfulness practice!
